Children encounter powerful digital systems long before anyone explains how they work. That gap is wider for communities who rarely see themselves reflected in the design, ownership or leadership of those systems.
When systems remain invisible, people are less able to understand, question or shape them. ThreadPoint helps children see where data goes, how the internet is built and how systems connect, nurturing digital awareness and responsibility without fear-based teaching.
We do not tell people what to think. We show them how things work, so curiosity, confidence and responsibility can grow naturally.

All learning materials are written independently by ThreadPoint's educators and researchers, never by funders. Partners fund the learning; they never write it.

Willow Williams CF, MSc
Willow is a 2026 Churchill Fellow and the founder of ThreadPoint. With 15 years' experience across information management, digital construction and the built environment, including live data centre projects in the UK and internationally, her work focuses on making the hidden systems behind modern life visible.
She is the author of Where the Internet Goes to Sleep, a children's book introducing young readers to data centres and the physical infrastructure behind digital life.
Born and raised in Hackney, East London, Willow brings together deep industry knowledge and lived community experience. ThreadPoint exists because those two things rarely sit in the same room.
As a Churchill Fellow, she is researching infrastructure literacy and public understanding across international contexts, bringing practical learning back to UK communities, schools, policymakers and industry partners.
ThreadPoint exists to close the gap between the systems being built around communities and the understanding communities are given about them.

ThreadPoint has delivered with Microsoft, Origin Housing and Hackney Council, with a borough-wide commission underway across 12 community venues in Hackney, and a funded schools programme with The Portal Trust across Hackney, Camden and Islington.
